Simple Side

Heat half the butter in a saucepan and add the onion and garlic. Cook stirring until wilted. Add the rice and stir.
Add the broth, bay leaf and salt to taste. Bring to a boil.
Cover and place the rice on a metal pad. Reduce heat to low and Simmer 17 Minutes
If peas are fresh, cook them briefly until done. If frozen peas are used, heat in a skillet in 1 tbsp of butter, stirring. Add the peas to the rice. Stir in the remaining butter.
